Neuromodulación de raíces sacras como tratamiento de la incontinencia fecal : Resultados preliminares

2007
Fecal incontinence (FI) is defined as the inability to hold feces in the rectum, permitting the involuntary, recurrent, untimely passage of feces or gas through the anal canal. Even in the mildest cases of FI (in which only slight losses and staining of underwear occurs), this pathology involves to a greater or lesser extent physical and psychological problems as well as alterations in the patients’ quality of sexual, family, social, and working lives (1-3). The fact that FI has been considered a socially embarrassing problem makes it difficult to estimate its true Sacral root neuromodulation as treatment for fecal incontinence. Preliminary results
