System and method for monitoring cabling systems

A monitoring system (100) comprises at least a partial discharge sensor (DP) (10). The DP sensor is configured to monitor a component (22) of an aircraft wiring system (130) and to acquire a monitoring signal. A method of monitoring an aircraft wiring system according to one embodiment comprises the step of acquiring a number of monitoring signals for a number of components of the aircraft wiring system using a number DP of partial discharge sensors. The method also comprises the step of transmitting the monitoring signals of at least one of the DP sensor to a data acquisition system (40).
