Alcuni aspetti biologici della Claviceps paspali Stev. et Hall

Abstract Some biological aspects of CLAVICEPS PASPALI Stev. et Dall. — The biological aspects of Claviceps paspali, from Paspalum distichum L. var. paspalodes Thell., found in the neighbourhood of Sabaudia (Latina), are described; also the morphological characteristics of the conidial and sclerotial stages as well as the stromata, which are produced from the germination of sclerotia, are mentioned. Our observations, agree with those of the Authors who studied the same subject. For its biological and morphological aspects, C. paspali is a separate species different from C. purpurea. Some observation concerning the nuclear phenomenon leading to the formation of asci and ascospores are discussed. Finally, it is suggested that C. paspali could be ascribed to a genus different from those to which it now belongs.
