GmbZIP45 binds to H-box cis-element in vitro and overexpression in soybean protoplasts induces the expression of CHS8 gene

2020
Abstract Previous work has shown that GmbZIP45 expression is induced upon Phakopsora pachyrhizi infection. In the present work, it is shown P. pachyrhizi infection induces the expression of some phenylpropanoid biosynthesis genes. GmbZIP45 binds to the H-box, cis-element present on promoters of such genes. Interestingly, overexpression of GmbZIP45 activates the transcription of CHS8 but does not induce the expression of the other genes analyzed. Taken together, our data suggest interaction with H-box in a cooperative way along with other transcription factors can be a potential mechanism of regulation of targets genes by GmbZIP45.
