The Influence of TMT Characteristics on Technological Innovation: Evidence from IT Public Listed Companies in China

Based on the integration of Upper Echelons Theory and Social Capital Theory, this paper explores the relationship between characteristics of TMT and technological innovation. It collects the data from 117 listed Chinese IT corporations in 2013. The results show that TMT’s average age, percentage of female executives have significant negative impact on technological innovation. Technological innovation correlates positively with TMT’s education level, output functional experience and social capital.
