Total synthesis of pleosporol A and its stereoisomers

Abstract The cyclohexenone derivatives pleosporols A, B and stemfolone B were reported as novel antibacterial agents. In this study, we reported the first total synthesis of pleosporol A and its stereoisomers from arabinose, utilizing intramolecular nitrone-alkene cycloaddition and Hofmann elimination under Swern condition for constructing the cyclohexene ring.
