Cytotoxic triterpenoids from Schima crenata

2021
Abstract Four new triterpenoids (1-4), along with five known triterpenoids (5-9), were isolated from the bark and twigs of Schima crenata. Their structures were elucidated by the use of extensive spectroscopic methods (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR). Most of the compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against the A375, A549, and LoVo cancer cell lines. Compounds 4, 8, and 9 displayed inhibitory activity against three tumor cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 3.63 ± 1.86–8.64 ± 1.55 μM, even stronger than the positive control cisplatin.
