A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by T.R. Naik and S.S. Singh, published in this journal (Volume 94, Number 5, September-October 1997), is presented. The discusser maintains that the suggestion of using gypsum as an admixture to portland cement concrete is a significant error, because the two materials are not compatible.
