SEX DIFFERENCES IN CARDIOVASCULAR ACTIVITY OF PGI2 AND 6 β-PGI1

1980
Summary Blood pressure and heart rate after i.v. injection of PGI 2 and 6 β-PGI 1 were measured in anaesthetized male and female rats. Significant differences in diastolic, systolic and mean blood pressure were observed only after 6 β-PGI 1 administration, the male rats being more sensitive than females to the hypotensive effect. PGI 2 was equally effective on rats of both sexes. No difference was found between the heart rates of male and female rats after administration of either PGI 2 or 6 β-PGI 1 .
