Precast Post-Tensioned Frames For A Large Storage Building In Costa Rica

1963
The construction of a large building for the bag storage of fertilizer, with a total area of 105,000 sq. ft., was planned for FERTICA's new fertilizer plant in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The size of the building and the repetitive use of a large number of equal structural elements, as well as economic considerations, a short construction term, and the required resistance to the corrosive action of the atmosphere, called for a precast and prestressed concrete structure as a logical and economical solution.
