BIOLOGICAL POTENCIES OF CHEMICALLY MODIFIED ADRENOCORTICOSTEROIDS IN RAT AND MAN.

1964
The eosinopcnic and hyperglycemic clinical assays of chemically modified adrenocorticosteroids show excellent agreement and also correlate closely with antiinflammatory efficacy assessed in rheumatoid arthritic patients. These procedures afford distinct advantages in the preliminary estimation of anti-inflamma- tory potency of corticosteroids. Conversely, the thymolytic and liver glycogen potencies of corticosteroids as determined in the rat fail to correspond with their eosinopenic, hyperglycemic and anti-inflammatory potencies as measured in man.
