Visual accessibility and programming: A first-year experience at information systems engineering

2017
The design of a programming course in university is a complex activity. Usually, the professor uses several strategies and materials related with some particular topic in order to motivate its students. However, the teaching process must be adapted when the class includes blind students. In this scenario, the professor must be involved in the learning process of the student in order to find the best set of software tools available. This paper presents an experience in an algorithm course of the Facultad Regional Santa Fe — Universidad Tecnologica Nacional in which a blind student was enrolled. The set of strategies used and the materials developed to help the blind student are included as part of this work.
