Structure and properties of steel 4Kh2V5MF after carbonitriding

1. Carbonitriding increases the red hardness of steel 4Kh2V5MF. 2. The optima carbonitriding conditions to improve the wear resistance and red hardness of the steel are 560° for 90 min. 3. The higher red hardness is probably due to the formation of special vanadium and tungsten carbides in the surface layer at 560°.
