Challenges and Peculiarities in Developing New Standards for SiC

In recent years, the power electronics conversion semiconductor community has been calling for the development of guidelines and standards for SiC-based devices. While some of the existing silicon-based guidelines and standards are directly applicable to SiC devices, some may not adequately address the special properties of SiC. In this paper, I will review the current state of the published and released guidelines and standards and the technical and other challenges on their continuing development.
