Abstract : The diffusion of time-varying magnetic fields through conductors is examined, and the quantitative results are applied to pulsed solenoids to obtain the axial magnetic fields produced by these devices. Based upon these results a design procedure is established for simple pulsed solenoids. A trial design and its experimental results are presented for comparison with the theory.
