Purpose To describe the anaesthesia services in Barbados: to present the major challenges confronting the Anaesthesia Department of the govemment-owned Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH): and to describe the Department’s approaches to optimise safety and cost-effectiveness of anaesthesia at QEH.
