Stability study of an offset bearing including EHD effects

Abstract The present work reports the influence of deformation coefficient Cd, a measure of flexibility of the bearing liner, on the threshold speed ( \ gW) of a circular offset bearing. It is shown that the threshold speed improves with an increase in offset and/or the bearing flexibility. Further, the load-carrying capacity of a bearing is shown to depend largely on the deformation coefficient.
