Medicine for reducing injury of tissue accompanied by ischemia

1997
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine useful for reducing injury directly produced in a tissue of heart, etc., sensitive to injury of ischemia/reperfusion as a result of non-heart ischemia in mammal including human. SOLUTION: This medicine comprises a sorbitol dehydrogenase inhibitor in an effective amount for reducing the above symptom, e.g. 4-{4-(N,N- dimethylsulfamoyl)piperazino}-2-hydroxymethylpyrimidine. Furthermore, the daily effective amount of the medicine is about 0.1 to about 100mg/kg, preferably about 0.1 to about 20mg/kg. Cardiopathy caused by myocardial ischemia can be reduced by administering the medicine before carrying out heart operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
