DR. ABELARDO RIGUAL MAGALLÓN (1918-2009): NOTAS BIOGRÁFICAS Y BIBLIOGRÁFICAS

Dr. Abelardo Rigual Magallon, recently died, is the author of the first modern compendium of the flora and vegetation of Alicante province (SE of Spain). In the present contribution, a brief biographic semblance is reported on this eminent bota- nist, who was born in Castellon province and lived most of his life in Alicante. In ad- dition, a list of taxa and syntaxa (plant communities) he described is included, as well as a list of taxa dedicated to him. Key words: Biography, taxonomy, syntaxonomy, Alicante, Spain.
