X-ray intensity ratios for microprobes and PIXE

Abstract Experimental and theoretical radiative transition-rate ratios for K and L series are examined for their use in microprobe and PIXE X-ray analysis. Graphical representations of different ratios as a function of atomic number should provide conclusions about the significance of the used data. A new theoretical approach allows to calculate ratios closer to the experiment than other literature values.
