Cement Piles and Combined Bored Piles Applied to Control over Caisson Sinking

2008
The complexity of geotechnical medium directly affects the control of caisson sinking, causing greater difficulties in keeping uniform sinking, preventing a sudden drop, deviation, over-sinking, etc. Based on previous studies and experience in engineering practice of caisson and incorporating the structural design of caissons in a municipal storm-water pumping station in Wenzhou, measures are designed to control the caisson sinking, i.e. to build cement mixed piles at the four sides and bored piles at the four corners of the rectangular caisson (below the cutting edge). By chipping off the crushed stones under the cutting edge, the holding power can be adjusted to control exactly the sinking speed, depth and verticality of the caisson.
