Substrate Influences on Incised‐Channel Morphology

2002
Abstract Surveys of channel geometry and substrate resistance along an incised ephemeral channel in southern India were used to examine the influence of substrate on channel geometry. The surveys indicate that as substrate resistance increases, the channel grows narrower and deeper, with undulating wall and bed topography, more localized erosion in the form of potholes and longitudinal grooves, and a steeper and more variable bed gradient.
