espanolEl proyecto “Cultural Heritage & Management Venture Lab” en Ahmedabad, India surge como resultado de las optimas relaciones internacionales entre India y Espana cultivadas en los ultimos anos. Es un proyecto de cooperacion internacional que busca reforzar las capacidades de los agentes culturales y facilitar un entorno para la creatividad, la innovacion, la profesionalizacion y el emprendimiento en la gestion cultural y del patrimonio para permitir que la gente del estado de Gujarat se beneficie del potencial del patrimonio cultural como un valor economico. Ahmedabad es el mayor centro urbano del estado de Gujarat, al noroeste de la India, y es la quinta ciudad mas poblada del pais. En Gujarat se encuentran emplazadas las mayores empresas de negocios del pais, y la cultura economica y de emprendimiento de sus ciudadanos han situado a este estado como uno de los mas dinamicos de la India. El potencial derivado de la correcta combinacion de su fuerza economica y su rico patrimonio ofreceria grandes oportunidades para el desarrollo del sector cultural, lo que contribuiria a un mayor progreso economico y un crecimiento sostenible en areas clave de la ciudad que beneficiaria a un gran sector de la poblacion. La actual degradacion del entorno tradicional se atribuye entre otros factores a la alta densidad de poblacion, el colapso de la industria textil en los anos ochenta, los cambios en los sistemas de produccion o a la congestion causada por el trafico rodado. A pesar de los numerosos esfuerzos por crear conciencia del patrimonio e incentivar su conservacion, todavia hoy muchas areas del interior de Ahmedabad se encuentran al margen del proceso de crecimiento y regeneracion urbanos, lo que ha producido su decadencia y dilapidacion economica. Como consecuencia de lo anterior, se esta produciendo una emigracion hacia las areas mas modernas que, a su vez, esta repercutiendo negativamente en la conservacion del entorno historico de la ciudad. El ayuntamiento de Ahmedabad, la Universidad de Ahmedabad y voluntarios locales continuan explorando las formas de institucionalizar y popularizar la restauracion y promocion del patrimonio. Uno de dichos esfuerzo ha conducido a la colaboracion entre los ayuntamientos y las universidades de Ahmedabad y Valladolid. La Universidad de Valladolid ya habia colaborado con anterioridad con la Universidad de Ahmedabad acometiendo estudios previos en la ciudad historica y definiendo los riesgos potenciales sobre el patrimonio cultural. El proyecto financiado por la Union Europea no solo trata de resolver estos temas problematicos, sino ademas, crear una agrupacion permanente publico-privada para promover nuevas politicas y crear nuevas industrias culturales en el sector del patrimonio que contribuyan al crecimiento economico, a su conservacion y a mejorar la conciencia social y el sustento en las zonas centricas mas degradadas. EnglishThe Europe Union funded project “Cultural Heritage & Management Venture Lab” in Ahmedabad, India appears as a result of the optimal international relations between India and Spain cultivated in the last years. An international cooperation project pretends to strengthen 0the capacities of the cultural actors and promote an environment for creativity, innovation, professionalization and entrepreneurship in the cultural and heritage management to allow the people of Gujarat to fully benefit from the cultural heritage potential as an economic value. Ahmedabad is the major urban centre of the state of Gujarat, situated on the North West, and it is the fifth largest city in India. Gujarat has the largest business corporations in the country, and the economical and entrepreneurial culture of Gujarati citizens has led this State to be considered as one of most dynamic states in India. The potential derived from the appropriate combination of its economic strength and its cultural heritage wealth would offer great opportunities for the development of the cultural sector, contributing to a further economic progress and a sustainable growth in key areas of the city that would benefit an important section of its population. The contemporary degradation of the traditional environment can be attributed to numerous factors, being the most outstanding the high population density, the collapse of textile production in the 1980s, the shift in the production systems or the traffic congestion. Despite of the various and pioneering efforts to create awareness on heritage and to encourage its preservation, there are still many inner city areas of Ahmedabad that have become marginalized in the process of urban growth and regeneration, which has led to their decay and economic dilapidation. Consequently, the migration of the population to newer areas is been producing and, at the same time, this is having negative repercussions on the historical urban preservation. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad University and local volunteers continue to explore the ways to institutionalize and popularize the heritage restoration and promotion. One such effort has led to the collaboration between the municipal corporations and the universities of Ahmedabad and Valladolid. The University of Valladolid had already collaborated with Ahmedabad University, undertaking preliminary studies in the old city and defining the potential risks on cultural heritage. The project funded by the European Union not only address these problematic issues, but also pretends to create a permanent private-public cluster to promote new policies and create new cultural industries in the heritage sector that contribute to the economic growth, the heritage preservation and the improvement of social awareness and livelihood in the inner areas of Ahmedabad.
