Complicação tardia de BAHA em doente pediátrico: a propósito de um caso clínico de extrusão do implante
2010
We report a case of an abutment extrusion in an eleven-year-old girl with Goldenhar syndrome 8 months after osteointegration of her BAHA, without trauma or dermatological complications history. A literature review was performed concerning unusual late complications of BAHA. Such unusual complications are relatively rare. The risk of a late implant extrusion is very low. A long regular follow-up is recommended. All clinicians involved in a BAHA implantation programme must be aware of the need to monitor their patients carefully and to remember that unusual and unexpected complications, although rare, do happen. The patient's need for care continues long after the surgery is complete.
