Composição corporal e consumo alimentar de praticantes de corridas de rua, iniciantes e avançados: um estudo transversal

Introducao: Os praticantes de exercicio fisico devem ter habitos alimentares saudaveis com a finalidade nao somente de manter a saude, mas tambem de proporcionar um melhor rendimento no exercicio. Objetivo: Avaliar a adequacao da composicao corporal e dos nutrientes ingeridos de praticantes de corrida de corrida iniciantes e avancados, de ambos os sexos e estimar as diferencas existentes entre os grupos. Metodos: Estudo observacional, transversal do qual participaram 177 corredores de rua de ambos os sexos, por amostragem nao probabilistica. Foram aplicados inqueritos alimentares e coletados dados antropometricos para calculo de Indice de Massa Corporal (IMC), relacao cintura quadril (RCQ) e percentual de gordura.  As associacoes entre as variaveis foram avaliadas pelo teste X 2 e de razao de verossimilhanca (para a RCQ), sendo considerado o nivel de significância de 5% (ρ<0,05). Resultados: Nos grupos estudados de ambos os sexos, houve diferencas  significativas nas medias de IMC e de percentual de gordura; em que a maioria dos praticantes avancados apresentou eutrofia. Houve diferencas no consumo energetio e nos nutrientes proteina, calcio, potassio e fosforo, em ambos os grupos femininos, e para os valores de lipideos, proteina, vitamina E e sodio, em ambos os grupos masculinos. Conclusao: A maioria dos participantes dos grupos estudados apresentou inadequacoes no consumo de nutrientes necessitando, portanto, de orientacao nutricional adequada. Food Intake and Body Composition of Beginner and Advanced Street Racers: A Cross-Sectional Study Introduction: The apprentices of physical activity should have healthy eating habits not only to maintain their health, but also to provide better exercise performances. Objective: To evaluate the adequacy of the body composition and ingested nutrients of beginners and advanced race runners of both sexes and estimate the differences between the groups. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study involving 177 street corridors of both sexes, by non-probabilistic sampling. Food surveys were applied and anthropometric data were collected for the calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI), waist ratio (WHR) and percentage of fat. The associations between the variables were evaluated by the X 2 test and the likelihood ratio (for the WHR), considering the significance level of 5% (ρ <0.05). Results: In the studied groups of both sexes, there were significant differences in the average of BMI and percentage of fat; in which the majority of advanced practitioners presented eutrophy. There were differences in energy intake and protein, calcium, potassium and phosphorus intake in both groups of women and for lipid, protein, vitamin E and sodium in both groups. Conclusion: Most of the participants of the studied groups presented inadequacies in the nutrient consumption, therefore, needing adequate nutritional orientation.
