Evaluation andCharacterization ofanUWB Antenna inTimeandFrequency Domains

Thispaperdescribes different measurements schemesforUWB antennacharacterization infrequency domainas wellas in timedomain.The antenna measurements arewellknowninfrequency domain, butthe UWB technology introduces newrequirements, especially in thetimedomainandthendifferent measurement methods arenecessaries. Thetimedomaincharacteristics couldbe obtained through direct method-inthetimedomain- or throughindirect methodwithlinksynthesis -inthe frequency domain. Thespecific schemesapplied forthe direct andindirect methodareexposed. TheUWB antennas considered areprinted dipoles antennacovering thefull bandof3.1GHz to 10.6GHz.The simulation and measurement results performed by direct and indirect methodsarecomparedandtheantennabehavior isthen explained andexposed.
