To obtain signal matched DFT filter bank we first pass the given signal through DFT filter bank so as to decompose the signal into M distinct uniform bands, and then each channel is passed through a filter which is a whitening filter for that band. Since the decomposition and whitening de-correlates within and also across the band, information content in each band would be maximized. This can be construed as a modification of DFT filter bank in such a way that side-lobe energy is minimized and main lobe enhanced. The filter bank is designed for both the case, i.e., given deterministic signal case and given statistic case. This approach is shown to extend to the design of an M-channel, dyadic, nonuniform filter bank case also. Finally, the results of simulations are also presented.
