A Development of Traction Motor for mid-size sedan HEV

Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is widely applied for the traction motor in the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) due to high efficiency, high power density and wide speed range. An HEV traction motor designer must consider high fuel efficiency of the vehicle, and that is achieved by high efficiency performance at the main operating region during hybrid electric vehicle operation. In this paper design related to increase of power density and efficiency at the main operating region of IPMSM is presented.
