Pasteurella multocida and female genital carcinoma ; a case report to dispute the concept of genital opportunistic pathogen

1991
Pasteurella multocida is a small gram-negative cocobacillus generally recovered from localized infections (cellulitis, adenitis) caused by dog or cat bites. Occasionally, this bacteria may be responsible for pulmonary infections, systemic diseases or meningitis [9]. Rarely, Pasteurella multocida is isolated from genital samples [4,9]. We report the clinical observation of a Pasteurella multocida pyometritis associated with a genital adenocarcinoma, and dispute the idea that Pasteurella multocida should be considered exclusively as an opportunistic pathogen in genital infection.
