Writing optical waveguides with a 0.1-5 MHz repetition rate femtosecond fiber laser

A novel femtosecond Yb-fiber laser with variable repetition rate of 0.1 to 5 MHz is shown to control the onset of heat accumulation effects instrumental in forming symmetric and low-loss optical waveguides in borosilicate glasses.
