Koklear İmplantlı Çocuğa Sahip Olmanın Aile İşlevlerine Etkisi

Aim: The main goal of this research is to investigate family roles of the parents who have a children with cochlear implant and to see whether some variants such as time period of using hearing aid, age of cochlear implant of child and parent character such as education, profession affect this roles or not. Method: This study includes parents of 20 children with cochlear implant, whose mean ages are 107.8 months (SS: 5.91) and who attend the auditory-verbal rehabilitation programs in the Training Unit of Hearing and Speaking Abilities in Hacettepe University, Department of ENT, Audiology and Speech Pathology Section. “Personel Information Form” and “Family Assessment Scale” have been used as devices for collecting data, and the results have been evaluated statistically. Results: At the end of the study, the parents who have a children with cochlear implant have the highest average of “Affective Involvement’” and “Behavior Control” of family assessment scale scores. This is an indication of unhealthy behavior on affective involvement and behavior control. Conclusion: Parents of the cochlear implant implanted children; experts and trainers and official organizations and institutions should be given some advices, and consultancy should be done.
