Influence of nanocrystalline structure on work function of tungsten

2006
The field emission investigations of nanocrystalline (NC) tungsten have revealed the essential difference in energy distribution of field-emitted electrons from NC tungsten as compared to the coarse-grained one. The measurement by the electron beam retarding potential technique also showed the reduction in work function of NC tungsten. The revealed features are explained using two phase model for NC metal.
