HEMOGRAMA DE EQÜINOS PURO SANGUE INGLÊS /EM PÁREOS DE 1300M

The aim of this research was to determinate the effect of exercise in the hemogram of racehorses in races of 1300m. Blood samples were collected before, immediately after and two hours after the race to evaluate the red blood count (RBC), hematocrit (Ht), middle corpuscular volume (MCV), hemoglobin concentration (Hb), middle corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), total and diferential leukocyte count. The exercise induced an increase (P 0.05) was observed to MCHC, band neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils and basophils. The alterations in the hemogram were considered physiological and do not represent damage to the athletic horses. The changes in the physiological responses were due to the high intensity and short duration of the exercise.
