Efficacy and safety of dapsone in the treatment of linear iga dermatosis of childhood

2016
Introduction: Linear IgA dermatosis of childhood is an autoimmune bullous disease, characterized by linear deposition of IgA along the basement membrane by direct immunofluorescence techniques. The treatment of choice is the administration of dapsone, with excellent response within a few days, although it is not without therapeutic risks. We report the case of a 2-year-old girl diagnosed linear IgA dermatosis of childhood. She was treated with dapsone at a dose of 2 mg/kg/day with good tolerance and sustained response. Actually after three years of follow up, the child is free of disease and no drug treatment. Conclusion: Although the linear IgA dermatosis of childhood is rare, it should be considered in children with vesicular-bullous lesions. Dapsone therapy has shown to be effective for this pathology, but may have side effects, which should be informed prior administration. It is necessary to make differential diagnosis with other dermatoses, especially bullous group
