Associação Entre Sintomas Depressivos, Ansiosos e Criatividade em Crianças: Um Estudo Exploratório Brasileiro

2021
The present study aimed to evaluate depression and anxiety symptoms and creativity, as well as to verify their relationships, in a group of Brazilian children (N=50). The sample came from a public school and the age range varied between 10 and 11 years (M = 10.36; SD = 0.72). The following instruments were used: Test of Children’s Figural Creativity (TCFC), Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) and Child Depression Inventory (CDI). The results showed that 4 children (8%) of the general sample presented a score above the cutoff in the MASC, however, none did in the CDI. In the TCFC, it was found that classifications within the average range were the most frequent. There were only significant correlations in the female sample, with positive and moderate correlations between the MASC and the CDI and between Factor 2 of the TCFC (Emotivity) and the CDI. This last correlation revealed that depressive characteristics may possibly be related to creativity in girls, that is, possible dual exceptionality.
