Effect of Nitric Oxide on the Growth and Development of Arabidopsis thaliana
2013
Besides the signaling function, nitric oxide can also serve as a source of nitrogen in plants. Fixation of nitric oxide seems to be mediated by non-symbiotic hemoglobins and thereby introducing it into the N-metabolic pathway. These new findings could be important for breeding to generate plants with improved growth.
