Specific Conductance Characteristic of Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) with Custom Made Single-Gap Conductive Contacts

2013
This paper investigates the force-dependent contact area excitation of the standardForce Sensing Resistor (Interlink FSR) with modified conductive contacts. The force dependentarea excitation was accomplished by the deformation of a dome shaped rubber element. Thecharacteristic of the FSR - the pressure dependency of its specific conductance (per length)was experimentally obtained from the fixed contact area excitation. The power law function, chosen to represent the characteristic, is then fitted to experimental results. Verification ofthe characteristic was done by comparing the measured and predicted values of the sensorconductance when the force-dependent excitation is applied.
