A method of coating a diesel particulate filter and diesel particulate filters produced

2008
A method of coating a diesel particulate filter with catalytically active coating, wherein a zeolite-containing layer over the entire length of the particulate filter uniformly and another, zeolithfreier noble metal catalyst only in an entry zone for increasing a noble metal concentration in this zone are introduced into the pores of the filter material and the diesel particulate filter in is in the form of a cylindrical wall-flow filter having a cylinder axis, which has an incident end face, an exit face and a length L of the filter body, characterized by the method steps a) aligning the vertical axis of the filter body with the entry end surface downwards, b) pumping a first coating suspension through the incident end face up to a predetermined height H, and aspirating the coating suspension down, c) rotating the filter body about an axis perpendicular to the cylinder axis by 180 °, d) pumping a second coating suspension through the now underlying exit end face in the filter substrate up to the overhead incident end face and suction or pumping of the coating suspension down and e) drying and calcining said coating, wherein both coating suspensions are so finely ground prior to the coating in that the particles of the solids
