Solubility study of ketoconazole in the mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and ethanol at different temperatures

2021
Abstract The solubility profile of ketoconazole (KTZ) in the binary mixtures of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and ethanol is determined by a shake-flask method followed by a spectrophotometry method in the temperature range of 293.2–313.2 K. The obtained solubility values of KTZ are correlated using some linear and non-linear cosolvency models. Moreover, the density of saturated mixtures is also represented by the Jouyban-Acree model at different temperatures. The accuracy of each used model is investigated by the mean relative deviations (MRD %) of the back-calculated solubility and density data. The apparent thermodynamic properties of KTZ dissolution are also computed based on the van't Hoff and Gibbs equations.
