Catalysis by Noble Metals of Redox Reactions in Solution.

Abstract An outline is given of the problems and techniques involved in studying the heterogeneous catalysis by noble metals of solution reactions. In the case of oxidation-reduction reactions, the application of electrochemical methods has revealed a common mechanism of electron transfer through the metal. As a result, the catalytic kinetics of many types ofredox reaction can often be correctly predicted from purely electrochemical and hydrodynamic data.
