Reporte de caso y revisión de la literatura. Manejo endoscópico de fístula traqueoesofágica recurrente con electrocauterio y pegante tisular

2012
Recurrent Tracheoesophageal Fistulas (RTEF) remains a therapeutic challenge, cause of the high rates of morbidity and mortality associated with open surgical closure and their frequent recurrence. Endoscopic techniques provide an alternative approach with the potential for improved surgical outcomes. We present a case of successful repair of recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula using bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy, as well as a combined technique with electrocautery and fibrin glue. We believe this might represent a valid alternative for the management of RTEF. We also want to point out the importance of considering primary or recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula in pediatric patients with recurrent respiratory tract infections.
