LGBTQ Educators: Global Inequities.

AbstractThe following paper argues that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) educators must have the option to come out in a safe and welcoming environment and until this is possible, equity for LGBTQ students will not be achieved. First the author frames the issue from a human rights perspective, followed by a review of the global climate concerning LGBTQ individuals. LGBTQ issues within multicultural education are explored, as well as specific issues concerning educators, and finally, recommendations for action are offered.
