Diffuse contrast enhancement of right ventricular wall in a patient with arrythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia: A clue to the question dysplasia or myocarditis?

Abstract Arrythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) is an idiopathic syndrome, characterised by fatty and fibrotic replacement of the right ventricular wall. Patients, who are usually young adults or adolescents, present with fatal arrythmias. In the diagnosis, different criteria as well as imaging properties have been known. We present a patient with ARVD, discuss MR imaging findings including diffuse contrast enhancement of the right ventricular wall. Delayed contrast enhancement of the right ventricular wall to some extent has recently been published in the literature. However, we suggest that, not frequently seen diffuse contrast enhancement, may be of some clue favoring myocarditis or inflammation in the etiopathogenic debates.
