Background: Ceftaroline is a new cephalosporin with activity against Gram-positive cocci, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and Enterobacteriaceae species. The prodrug, ceftaroline fosamil is approved by the USA-FDA for treatment of ABSSSI.
