Thirteen ternary complexes of pyruvic acid isonicotinoyl hydrazone(H2PPFH) and 5-fluorouracil-1- acetic (HFAA) with rare earths have been synthesized in the paper. The structure and properties of the ternary complexes were determined by elemental analyses, infrared and ultraviolet spectra, molar conductivity and 1H NMR. A general formula of the complexes is RE(PPFH)(FAA)2H2O (RE(III) = La–Yb). Antitumor activity of La(PPFH) (FAA) 2H2O was tested with Leukaemia cells L1210 and transplanted mouse tumor colon cancer C27. The results show that the inhibitory rate for C27 is 41.2%.
