APPARATUS FOR THE STUDY OF REACTIONS IN STATIONARY DROPLETS BY RADIOACTIVE TRACERS.

1967
An apparatus is described which was built to study chemical reactions occurring in stationary droplets of solutions of salts. The reactants are labelled with a suitable radioisotope and maintained at elevated temperatures under gas flow. It is possible to follow reactions occurring in the droplets by measuring the change in activity of the droplets or the effluent gases or both. The apparatus permits the study of the influence of temperature, droplet size, solution concentration, gas composition, humidity and flow rate on reaction kinetics.
