MODIFICATION OF THE ULTRASTRUCTURE OF THE GRANULE OF THE CEREBELLUM OF THE RAT FOLLOWING THE ACTION OF IONIZING RADIATION

Studies were made on the ultrastructural modifications of cerebellar granule of rats treated by irradiation of the head with x and gamma radiation to doses between 100 and 3000 rad. The observations were performed in animals sacrificed between the end of the irradiation and 24 hours later. It is shown that even the cerebellar granule, along with other neurons, show signs of suffering right after irradiation and that the alterations evolve differently with time after irradiation. (auth)
