Increasing the Capacity of the Double-Circuit Transmission Line in Emergency Mode

2019
The system of transporting electricity is the most important component of the electric power system. Modernization, operation optimization, expansion of its transmission capacity, as well as the variability of the circuits on condition of maintaining or improving the reliability indicators, are the top priority problems in the entire energy industry. The present article is devoted to the development of schematic and technical solutions for a double-circuit three-phase transmission line with “a backup split-phase” mode of operation. The characteristic is given to traditional and non-traditional types of AC power transmission, such as overhead lines with a backup phase, six-phase power lines and Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS). The analysis of the ways to improve the efficiency of overhead transmission lines using structural and functional redundancy is given. The schematic and technical solution for a double-circuit transmission line with the expansion of operating modes is considered in detail. The possible operation modes of double-circuit transmission lines are described. The ways of increasing the natural power of the transmission line are inspected as well. The results of the calculation of the transmission capacity of lines with a backup split-phase are presented. Comparative analysis of the capacity of the overhead transmission lines in “backup split-phase” mode and the lines in the traditional design is conducted.
