DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR THE ESTIMATION OF ENTACAPONE IN PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS

A sensitive, precise, simple and accurate spectrophotometric method for the estimation of entacapone in tablet formulation has been developed. Spectrophotometric determination was carried out at maximum absorbance of 421.0 nm for entacapone using 0.1M NaOH as a solvent. The linearity over the concentration range of entacapone was found to be 3-18 4g/mL with correlation coefficient 0.9998. The detection limit and quantitation limit were found to be 0.82 4g/mL and 2.74 4g/mL, respectivel y. Results of analysis were validated statistically and by recovery studies. Commercial tablet formulations were successfully analyzed using the developed method.
