Resultados del tratamiento en parálisis del oblicuo superior

2006
SUMMARY Introduction: Superior oblique palsy is the isolated cyclovertical palsy most frequently encountered by the ophthalmologist. Objective: Asses the frequency and etiology of superior oblique palsy in a 5 year period in a strabismus department, and analyze the medical and surgical treatments used in order to know the evolution and prognosis and compare our results to that previously reported. Material and methods: Retrospective study of 134 patients with diagnosis of superior oblique palsy or paresis. Results: Our results do not differ to those previously reported. Discussion: Botulinum toxin is a good alternative with patients with recent evolution, and for patients with hypertropia of 15 diopters or less, a myectomy of the ipsilateral inferior oblique is the treatment of choice.
